I hired Kelly Smiar Interior Design shortly after purchasing my new condo/townhome in San Diego [work relocation from Orange County]. Kelly has been able to completely transform the 1980s interior to an updated, stylish bachelor pad. The project included: new flooring in the main room on the first floor; new flooring in the kitchen; new stone work on the wall accenting the fireplace; new paint throughout; new light fixtures throughout; new carpet in the upstairs bedrooms. Kelly’s work on this new interior design also included selection of new furniture and furnishings for the main living space, the dining room, kitchen nook, as well as the master bedroom.
Not only does Kelly come up with wonderful design ideas, and overall design concept, but she has a real ability to learn and understand the client’s needs and wishes. Kelly quickly figured out that remodeling my own home was a new thing for me and she put together a plan that addressed my specific needs, which included keeping the design issues from becoming overwhelming with options. The final product is truly amazing and I love my new home.

Kelly was invaluable during our remodel. She helped my husband and I sort through the millions of decisions from materials, to placement to colors. She also mediated the discussion when we didn’t agree. She also gave us great insights to where we could save money.

Our home in La Jolla Shores has been transformed into a casually elegant beach home with bleached oak wood floors in living room and hall, Caeserstone countertops, tile floor, new cabinets in kitchen, lovely yet casual window coverings, carpet in bedrooms, paint selections, and lighting fixtures. She creatively made the ordinary fireplace a focal point of the living room. I wish every person remodeling or redecorating could meet Kelly. You will love her!

Kelly helped us through our first remodeling experience. She was SO patient and that’s so important when there are SO many available choices and decisions to be made. I was indecisive and a bit overwhelmed, but Kelly zeroed in on our tastes almost immediately. We made our kitchen, breakfast room, living and dining rooms into a beautiful cohesive space and I get compliments all the time on my home.
Her solid knowledge, true interest in our project (topped off with a great sense of humor) made for an easy, comfortable working relationship. Kelly was our design expert during our home remodel. She was incredible! We met with her over a period of 4 weeks. Her job was to help us design a kitchen, bath and dining room. Each time we met, Kelly had options for us to look at and based on our choices she continued to fine tune the design. Not only is she a very talented interior designer, she really listened and was able to design a home we never could have done on our own.
